Offender Learning

Working in partnership with prisons and young offender institutes, Sage Qualifications has created accounting and payroll qualifications suitable for use in the prison environment. Funded by the Prisoners Education Trust (PET) and The Offender Learning and Skills Service (OLASS), these qualifications are incredibly popular with prisons across the country. Sage Qualifications has helped many prisoners set up their own business upon release and offers a helping hand on the other side of the wall. Materials can be studied during recreational time and a computer will not be needed initially. When learners gets to the skills section of the course, a computer is required, but Internet connection is not.

How does it work?

All course materials will be sent in printed format to the course tutor/learner. The books are colourful and comprehensive and can include quizzes, formative tests and practice simulations, upon request. Final case study assessment and certification is included into the price.

All learners receive their own copy of the latest version of Sage 50 Accounts Professional, the premium version of Sage's desktop accounting solution, to include in to their release pack to use once the learner has left the prison environment.

Up-to-date digital accounting skills are highly relevant to employers, even where Sage is not the chosen software for the organisation. The cost

A discounted rate is available to providers, prisons and young offender institutes. Courses start from as little as £125 per learner including software, learning materials (books), assessment and certification. Learners can also apply to study the qualifications under their own steam without a tutor in a classroom environment with PET funding.
